GEORGE KRIEBEL

George Kriebel, 86, Coffeyville, died Wednesday ‎(Dec. 20, 2000)‎ at his home.

Mr. Kriebel was born April 25, 1914, at Cherryvale, to David Main and Maggie
Elizabeth ‎(Trimpey)‎ Kriebel. The family moved to Liberty and he attended Liberty Grade School. He attended high school in Coffeyville, graduating from Field Kindley Memorial High School in 1933.

Following his schooling, he went to Alaska to prospect for gold. He received his induction papers into the U.S. Army by dog sled. He entered the U.S. Army in 1940, serving during World War II in the Philippines. He received several U.S. Army commendation medals. He was discharged in 1945.

Following his discharge, he returned to the Coffeyville area. His farm was east of Coffeyville where he raised cattle. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Number 1022, of Coffeyville and the American Legion.

Survivors include his brother, David of Portland, Ore.; his sister, Carolyn McKinley of Topeka; several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his two brothers, John and Isaac; one sister, Margaret Anita.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Restlawn Memorial Park
Cemetery, Coffeyville. Friends should gather at the cemetery prior to service time. VFW Post No. 1022 will conduct graveside rites.

Friends may call from noon until 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday at the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel. The family would welcome memorials to the Avenue of Flags.
