JOHN KRIEBEL

John Kriebel, 80, of Coffeyville, died Thursday afternoon ‎(Oct. 5, 2000)‎ at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center, Chanute.

Mr. Kriebel was born June 14, 1920, at Liberty to David Main and Maggie Elizabeth ‎(Trimpey)‎ Kriebel. He attended school in Liberty and graduated from Field Kindley High School and Coffeyville Community Junior College.

In 1936, he joined the Kansas National Guard and completed 30 years of service in 1965. During World War II, he fought in the Pacific Theater in U.S. Army Air Corps and from 1946 until his retirement, as a Technical Sergeant. He served in U.S. Air Force as an aircraft electrical engineer.

He married Mildren Junaita Byrd on Dec. 5, 1953, at Seguin, Texas.

Following his retirement, he moved to Houston, where he worked for NASA,
Philco-Ford and Stauffer Chemical Company. His later employment was with Brinks and Smith Security companies. He returned to Coffeyville in 1978 to completely retire.

Survivors include two stepdaughters, Alva Branson of Mound Ridge, Billie Linda Byrd Rodrigues of Omaha; two brothers, George of Coffeyville, David of Portland; one sister, Carolyn McKinley of Topeka; three stepgrandchildren; five
great-stepgrandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Kriebel; one brother; one sister.

Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Monday at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Coffeyville.

Friends may call at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel Saturday andSunday noon until 9 p.m.; Monday 8 a.m. until service time. Friends should gather at the gravesite prior to service time. The family would welcome memorials to the donor's choice.
