I remember my father, Robert Cunningham, telling me about a favorite uncle that was killed when he was a child. As he told the story, he and his brother, Paul, were on a Boy Scout camping trip in the mountains and his mother came and got them both and returned home. She said her brother had been shot! Two years ago I made a visit to Somerset to check on some of my Cunningham, McClintock and Trimpey ancestors and stopped in the Library. I asked the lady on the desk how I might research a Trimpey killing that must have taken place between 1910 and 1920. A lady sitting at a table overheard me and said she had just seen an article in the 1914 Somerset Herald and handed it to me! There it was--the complete story on the front page with pictures of the family and Henry Cramer, the killer! (June 17, 1914) I then went on to read the complete account of the trial (Somerset Herald Sept.30,1914) I copied both but failed to realize that while Cramer was convicted of "Voluntary Manslaughter", I do not know what sentence Mr. Cramer received. I hope someday to finish this saga and find the final report on the sentence. (Source: Jack Cunningham)
