Marjorie S. Reed, 74, Shippensburg, died Sept. 1, 2006, at home.

Born Majorie Stairs on March 2, 1932, in Confluence, she was a daughter of John Stairs of Keystone Heights, Fla., and the late Mary Trimpy Stairs. Mrs. Reed was married for 52 years to retired college biology professor, Robert D. Reed. In addition to her father and husband, she is survived by five daughters, Janice R. Jackson and her husband, Edwin of Camp Hill, Cynthia J. Reed of Camp Hill, Lisa D. Reed of Winchester, Va., Judith E. Asch and her husband, James, of Carlisle and Diane L. Cosenza and her husband, Anthony, of Chambersburg; one son, Mark S. Reed and his wife, Karen, Shippensburg; two sisters, Donna Thomas, Connellsville and Jane Smith, Apex, N.C.; three brothers, John Rex Stairs of Plymouth, Ind., Harold Stairs, Keystone Heights, Fla., and Tim Stairs, Somerset; 16 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Reed worked as a Registered Nurse for Drs. Albert and Bill Freeman and retired in 1993 as Head Nurse from Etter Health Center at Shippensburg University. She was a member of the Messiah United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir since 1965. A family graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at the Lambertsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to support the music ministries at Messiah United Methodist Church, 30 S. Penn St., Shippensburg, PA 17257. Arrangements are being handled by the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., 112 W. King St., Shippensburg, PA 17257.
