Markleton man suffers fatal fall , Somerset Daily American, 4/2/03 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A Markleton man was found dead Tuesday along Laurel Hill Creek in Upper Turkeyfoot Township. According to state police, David W. Faidley, 56, had gone for a walk in the area with his dog when he fell to the ground. Somerset County Coroner Wallace Miller said Faidley died of head injuries. I got the call around 10:30 a.m. and it wasnt until about 1:30 p.m. were we able to bring him out, he said. Miller explained that the man had fallen down a deep ravine along the waterway. It was a big obstacle for the crews, he said. We eventually had to go around to the other side and go through the water to reach him. Miller added that Faidleys family member became worried after he left just after dawn for a walk but didnt return home. I believe that his brother had been out there looking for him before we got there, Miller said. He said that going for morning walks was a common practice for Faidley, but he rarely went to the game lands. Miller said emergency crews from New Centerville and Confluence were called to scene to help in the rescue efforts.
